The Junior League of New Orleans is committed to raising awareness, providing support, and putting an end to child sex slavery through the ABOLISH Movement. This January, in conjunction with Human Trafficking Awareness Month, JLNO will host Truckers Against Trafficking and its Freedom Drivers Project for JLNO Takes the Wheel. Programming will include a free luncheon featuring a discussion about the issue of sex trafficking in our community and tours of the Freedom Drivers Project 18 wheeler truck exhibit.
Abolish Luncheon: 11:30 am to 1 pm
Hear from Covenant House, Eden House, local law enforcement and Truckers Against Trafficking. Following the luncheon, attendees will have the opportunity to tour Freedom Driver’s Project. Registration is free and open to the public. However, there is a maximum of 75 seats so please follow the ticket link to reserve your spot. Tickets are required.
Freedom Driver’s Project Tours: 2 pm to 6 pm
Following the luncheon, join us for an interactive tour of the Freedom Driver’s Project 18 wheeler. Tours will offer a glimpse into the realities of human trafficking, how trucking is driving change in the area and simple action steps anyone can take to fight it. This first-of-its-kind mobile exhibit serves as the premiere tool for educating the community about the trucking industry and the realities of domestic sex trafficking. The exhibition includes a theater station and actual artifacts from trafficking cases that connect people to the basic stories of so many who end up enslaved in our country. We hope this experience will provide many with their first glimpse into human trafficking, as well as simple action steps anyone can take immediately walking out of it. This event is free and open to the public. Tours take approximately 15 – 20 minutes. No reservation necessary.
Note: Please do not park in the Sacred Heart parking lot for these events.
