2020 Medical Symposium on Human Trafficking

In partnership with The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and Medical Students Fighting Human Trafficking, ImPACT Virginia will host the second annual medical symposium on human trafficking. This conference will offer two-weeks of education and training on the nature and scope of labor and sex trafficking in the United States from a variety of stakeholder perspectives. Emphasis will be placed on training of health care workers to recognize and respond to (not “save” or “rescue”) potential and actual victims of labor and sex trafficking in the clinic setting. A highlight of this Symposium includes a two-day workshop led by Survivor Experts Aubrey Lloyd and Tanya Gould-Street. They will teach clinicians the importance of meeting survivors where they are and how to empower them to make choices that will create and support their futures.
