In 2018, following an eighteen-month investigation by human rights journalist Annie Kelly, and filmmaker and journalist Mei-Ling McNamara, The Guardian released a provocative and terrifying investigative documentary, The Trap. The film, which features national anti-trafficking survivor advocates, Marian Hatcher and Nikki Bell, explores the scourging coercive tactics traffickers use to prey on vulnerable incarcerated women.
